Can Do Kids Band Tour France

Written by Dr Charles Margerison, Can Do Kids Founder

Bonjour!

The Can Do Kids Band celebrate July by touring France, a country filled with history, architecture, delicious food, scenery and of course one of the most visited cities in the world, Paris. This is where the CDK band commenced their tour which just so happened to begin July 14- Bastille Day. ‘Bonne Fete Nationale!

Bastille Day was the day in 1789 when the revolutionaries stormed the Bastille (a state prison on the east side of Paris). With a mere seven prisoners inside, none of whom were politically important, the attack encouraged other citizens to join. The French People were poor, hungry and angry and wanted to remove King Louis 16th and the aristocracy, who they blamed for their poverty, from power – and so began the French Revolution.

Today, France is a democratic republic and we will celebrate by having street parades, parties and entertainment, culminating in an explosive and colourful fireworks display at night. Music will be played and the French National Anthem, called La Marseillaise, will echo from the crowds gathered along the Champs de Elysee.

French flags with the national colours of blue, white and red are waved enthusiastically as cries of ‘Vive la France,’ are heard in the crowd.

Well, that has certainly set the scene for the Can Do Kids Band Tour of France, this is just a taste of what is to come. The Eiffel Tower, a tour down the River Seine, Notre Dame and many other famous landmarks we will even catch the world’s most famous bicycle race Le Tour de France.

See you on the tour, the Can Do Kids Band world tour!
